Restorative Care

Gentle, child-friendly treatments for cavities and damaged teeth restore their function and comfort, maintaining the integrity of young smiles.

Restorative care in child dentistry at Smilesmith Dentistry focuses on effectively repairing and restoring primary and permanent teeth that have been affected by decay, trauma, or developmental defects. While prevention is our priority, sometimes cavities or injuries occur, necessitating intervention to stop pain, eliminate infection, and restore the tooth’s full function and integrity. We understand that dental procedures can be daunting for children, so we employ gentle techniques, child-friendly approaches, and offer local anesthesia to ensure comfort throughout the process.

Common restorative treatments for children include dental fillings, primarily using tooth-colored composite materials for a natural aesthetic and strong bond. For more extensive decay or fractured teeth, pediatric crowns may be recommended. These can be stainless steel crowns for posterior (back) teeth, known for their durability, or white crowns for front teeth where aesthetics are paramount. Our goal is not only to repair the tooth but also to prevent premature tooth loss, which can cause space issues for permanent teeth, and to ensure your child can eat, speak, and smile comfortably and confidently.
