Dentures
Custom-fitted removable appliances replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues, restoring your smile's aesthetics and chewing function effectively.
Dentures are custom-made, removable appliances specifically designed to replace missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. They are an effective and often more affordable solution for individuals who have lost multiple or all of their natural teeth. Dentures restore essential oral functions, improve speech, and significantly enhance facial aesthetics by providing support to the lips and cheeks, which can otherwise appear sunken due to tooth loss.
There are two main types of dentures:
Complete Dentures: These are used when all teeth in either the upper or lower arch (or both) are missing. They are custom-fitted to sit directly on the gums and jawbone.
Partial Dentures: These are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture consists of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored plastic base, often connected by a metal framework or clasps that attach to your natural teeth, holding the denture securely in place.
The process involves taking impressions of your mouth, creating models, and performing several "try-in" appointments to ensure optimal fit, bite, and appearance before the final denture is fabricated. While there is an initial adjustment period for speaking and eating, modern dentures are designed for comfort and a natural look. They require daily cleaning and occasional adjustments or relines to maintain a proper fit as your mouth changes over time.
